As promised I have prepared a few file packs from the vast content on Euroskillz. Some files are to huge to add to the download section. These are the avis and the webhost folder content. Pick the avis you are interested in one by one. I will save the ones I have added. If you have serious plans for a new skills or jump server then contact me regarding the web host folder content.

All public files can be found in the download section under filepacks here. The files are in tgz format which can be opened with winrar. All tgz archives are followed by a txt file showing the content of each archive. Open those text files in Notepad++, Wordpad, Open Office or Word and you won't have any problems with the Linux End of Line not working.

There will be more stuff coming up later so keep an eye on that folder.

Dear friends of Euroskillz! I have made the heart ripping decision to retire as Euroskillz manager and janitor. Therefore the servers have been cancelled but they will run to May 1 2010, so there is plenty of time still. But I will not renew them. I will make the content available so that anyone who feels like starting up something similar can do so. And anyone who feels like doing so can ask me for help setting things up. Personally I would love to come and visit a new TFC skills server.

The reasons? Well, 4 years is a long time managing these servers and I feel it is time to do something else. It is 4 years basically watching the servers on a daily basis. I just need a timeout.

The community "Euroskillz" will not die because of this. I will keep a webby and forum up and the #euroskillz irc channel on Quakenet and the Steam group. The 4 year old database with all your hard skillz work will also be saved.

We will see what future have to offer but Lt Llama will be on vacation after May 2010.

Another amazing tribute to TFC and the conc has been pulled off by Mr White and Renegade. Mr White behind the camera and Renegade doing the conc stunts. I am ofc talking about their new avi Aiden. This is a peak in Ren's performance and White have as usual added that special Whiteness to the avi. This avi really deserves all the attention it can get, so be sure to download it, it is a must in your avi collection.

I learned some sad news yesterday. Google has decided to shut down the video hosting service for common people. So Lt Llama Avi Inc must find another place for it's old collection of avis. The videos already uploaded will stay though.

From one of our regulars, Orangensaft, comes news of a big TFC event in the planning stage, WCTFC, or World Championship of Team Fortress Classic. Why noone have ever arranged this before surprises me, but maybe the time is really just right for this? I hope so. I also hope that this WCTFC after 10 years of struggling by concers, rjumpers and pipers have separate classes for skillz people. Anyway, I paste Orangensaft's steam forum info here and I hope he gets the attention and support this really deserves

AT LAST! The first player to finish the new [Ez|hJ] trial! Monkey! And I think this calls for a special edition of the News Page.

First and foremost a HUGE GRATZ to Monkey who been working on this for ages. We started working on a redesign of the fun trials in august 2008. The old fun trial consisted of only one trial, and no Easy, Medium or Hard parts. After a lot of debates and suggestions we finally agreed on the new eJ, mJ and hJ trials. A quite complicated work as all the jump trials had to consist of bhopping, climbing and surfing on all skill levels. We celebrated this by having the Night of Trials event in november 2008. 10 players did live trials during that night, including Monkey who finished surf_l33tbob for mJ and surf_simpsons_final for hJ.

Monkey is one of those that worked on all classes + spent time having fun on Fun :). He masters concing, rjumpimg, piping, climbing, surfing and bhopping. And his trial results is a living proof of it with his current accepted trials mC, mS, hS, hP, fN and hJ. The hJ trial is extremelly demanding and time consuming. Only hC left for the ULTIMATE tag [Ez|aM], the Euroskillz Allround Master, a tag only carried by 3 players during Euroskillz whole history.

Monkey's hJ trial can be downloaded from the download section under Tryouts. If you cant watch it because of missing custom stuff then ask Lt Llama and he will send it to you.

For reasons I don't know about Valve made another try to prevent server redirects through the update yesterday. According to the news post this is what they want to prevent. I really don't know why because Euroskillz server redirects have been very useful in building this community. I only see good things from the server redirects.

But if you and me are upset with it thats nothing compared to xOR who created, imo, one of the best plugins ever made for Amxmodx, the xREDIRECT plugin. 2 months ago Valve made an update which broke the xREDIRECT. xOR fixed it. But now 2 months later another update breaks it.

Work is in progress to try and find a new workaround for this update. You can follow it HERE

This is not a 1337 solution but works for me to quickly redirect. I added the servers to the file .../tfc/commandmenu.txt like this:

This is like a list of favorite servers but from the command menu. Just press shift and chose a server and click. You can edit the commandmenu.txt yourself and add any servers you like.

Anyway, lets hope they find a fix for this.

Welcome on saturday to try out the new Euroskillz servers with the best specs probably ever used by a skills server. Some people have questioned why we deserve the best. The answer is simple: BECAUSE WE ARE THE BEST :). (ok, i will eat these words before saturday is over probably)

During saturday there will be a few mini events announced:

The map releases will be spread out over the day so each of them can be enjoyed separatelly.

Tons of third party mods have become zombies.

Massive work by extremelly talented mod developers in shreds. Euroskillz plans to highlight some of these mods during our coming year by hosting them.

Saturday night ends by (hopefully) get a game of INSECTS INFESTATION up and running. This mod is probably put to rest. There is only one server up and running with one bot. On saturday there will hopefully be two :).

1,5 stressful months are over. Yes, it took less than this time to garantee another YEAR for Euroskillz. As a measure of the will to keep us running 792 people got the question ingame

339 people answered Maybe, contact me!. Now, I actually havent contacted all these people but there have been a lot of people who contacted me who wanted to help and who have been worried about the future of Euroskillz. Money pays for the rent but it is peoples will and desire to keep it alive that decides. 21 people have donated but countless of people have helped keeping Ez active and fun and cosy.

You who have donated have all shown an exceptional high level of will to help. And remember this "The size of the donation is not a measure of your will to help". Some are higher and some are lower but they are all equal in will to help. 933 euro have been raised out of the 936 needed. This means we can keep running Euroskillz on a root server.

Some donators wants to be anonymous. It is their decision and it will be 100% respected. How do we show them the appreciation they desrve? Well, think like this, it could be anyone standing beside you ingame. Without their help this wouldnt have been possible.

Fund goal reached for Euroskillz renewal

This morning someone chocked the pants out of me by pitching in 300 euro for the survival of Euroskillz as it is + improvements. This means that we without any doubt at all can be together until june 2010. Let's hope the provider's server hall doesnt burn down or something. But so far they have done a good job keeping us busy concing.

I asked this donator 3 times "Are you really sure you can do this?" and got a reassuring YES!

This means we can stop worrying and start thinking about more fun things. This also means we can upgrade to a better box. But more info on that later.

That means the fund raising officially stops now. It is supposed to fund the servers and nothing else. Next step is to contact all donators and give them the full credit they deserve for their support.

I hope this makes your day as sunny as it has made mine. Now just let´s try and get this old TFC lady young again, if we can :).

Donations so far for server renewal

Sorry to bother you all with this but the time has come to think about another year with Euroskillz. To put it straight, I have to ask for help running it one more year, if you want. Euroskillz costs around 936 Euro per year and thats to much for me to handle myself. I can contribute with a substantial part of it, but I am more or less depending on the community to keep this up to June 2010.

For you who have been around for a while you know we have had fund raisings before. And with this help it has been possible to rent this kind of server. So why am I talking about this now, you might ask. Well, the servers have a 3 month cancel period and I have to decide before mid march to the beginning of April to continue or not. Personally I don't mind keeping it up, and see that it works and continue trying to make the best out of Euroskillz. But as I said, I'm afraid the total sum for a year is a bit to much for me to handle.

If you feel you can, and by that i mean you have a steady income, food to eat and a spare euro or 2, then maybe you could help out. I won't accept any donations if I feel you can't afford it. Ofc it is your responsibility, but I do not want people to do something stupid just because of this. If I believe this is the case I will say NO or refund you.

Euroskillz will only continue if there is a serious interest from serious people that want to keep it running and can afford to help.

The fund raising will also stop when I feel sure we can pay our rent. If we reach the dead line and there is not enough funds for a year I will refund every donator and cancel the contract, and thats it. But I hope that wont happen.

Why does it cost so much?

Euroskillz runs on a so called root server. That means we have a 200 GB hard drive, a linux operating system and a 100 mbit Internet connection. On this server we can run all we need and dont need any other service from any other place. It also means we decide how many servers we want to run, when to start them, when to stop them. It includes a web server, ftp server, sql server, php, mail so on so on. Today we run 6 TFC servers and 1 Fortress Forever server which are all included in this. If you would compare that to rent each game server separatelly you would see that this is much cheaper.

If the miracle is here and we get enough funds I was thinking about migrating to Hetzner's DS 7000 server. They offer a lot more for 1047 euro/year. 79 euro/month and 99 euro in setup fee. A super server with a lot of space and resources to do a lot more than we do today. But more about that later.

What do donators get for helping?

All donators gets

• Simple admin functions
• Ingame rewards and a connect message showing you have helped
• Forum rank "Server donator"

Donations from 20 € to < 100 €

• Your own server space, meaning ftp, web, sql, and maybe running small apps like ventrilo. (any abuse and server will be cancelled).

Donations from 100 € and above

• Donations from 100 € and above is a matter of negotiation, like running your own TFC server for example. It all depends on what you want.

The purpose of a donation is to help Euroskillz survive mainly, and it is not a way to buy admin :) Anyone have chance to become admin, when the need is there.

How do I donate?

All donations should be done to Euroskillz PayPal account euroskillz@hotmail.com. You need a PayPal account and/or a credit card or a bank account. The PayPal button on the webby takes you to a login page where you can add the donation, or login to an existing PayPal account.

IMPORTANT FOR INTERNET EXPLORER USERS: The PayPal button needs Session cookies to be allowed to work properly. By default it is not allowed in IE 7. It works for other browsers like Mozilla but if you use IE you should select in IE Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Advanced/Always allow session cookies. This is a known problem with IE and PayPal. You can always change it back when you are done. Another option is to add www.paypal.com as a safe site in the Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Places box. Then you can keep your current cookie settings.

What about the future of Euroskillz?

I think we can agree that TFC skillz should stay, as long as possible. The question is what to do when we don't conc, rjump, pipe, make conc avis, brag about insane jumps in the forum. I still want people to find out about TFC Skillz. To explore the vast custom content made over the years. But for us who are bored to death and need a break, what about us? CTF, FF, Fun, CSS, WoW, Sleep, Pizza??? A lot of voices have said "Start a ctf server and remove Euroskillz - Fun and Euroskillz - Jumps. That will probably happen or something like it. If I would add any other game it would be NS2 when it is released.

Whatever can be done to make the community stronger and grow is also a goal of course.

Thats the whole story I think. I will update the progress ingame and on the webby and hopefully we can keep on being together on Euroskillz for another year. But even if thats not the case, then maybe it was time to move on? Well, lets see during february and march.
