PostHeaderIcon Map release party: conc_imhotep by wubwub

The mythical map conc_imhotep by wubwub is finally here, or at least when the event starts.

One of the Ancient Egyptians most revered in his time and after was not a king, but a man by the name of Imhotep. His name means the one who comes in peace, and it is a befitting name for someone held in such esteem even after his death.

Imhotep was believed for a fairly long time to be nothing but a mythological figure, and is very similar in some ways to the Judeo-Christian's Joseph. During the  nineteenth century AD, however, it was discovered that Imhotep was a real historical person, not just one of many Egyptian gods.

Teams:

Blue vs. Red Sniper Arena

Yellow Civilians can spectate the arena or take the portal to Jump One to be assisted through the jumps.

Green Scouts/Soldiers/Demomen/Medics/Engineers explore their way through ten jumps of (vaguely!) increasing difficulty.

PostHeaderIcon Trial Updates Galore

The need for a trial renewal has been growing, and has been requested and debated for a long time. Things that were accepted before is no longer considered progressive, entertaining, or desired within the trials. The juggling era lasted for almost a decade, and has fallen under question lately by many concers. The use of grenades for soldiers has been considered a less skillful way of rocket jumping.

So, after a lot of progression of TFC skills in general and Euroskillz in particular, we needed to move up the evolutionary ladder. Therefore we present the next phase in natural selection, a new set of trials that leaves Charles "wubwub" Darwin quivering in excitement.

Thanks goes out to the hard working band of brothers who put together the trials and who made demos of every jump. Credits goes to the demo recorders below:

PostHeaderIcon First revision to the stats system

Before we moved Euroskillz to it's new servers and while we where working on a new webby and forum, a very long discussion was taking place, about the flaws of the stats system. It all started when a few people suggested changes to points on certain maps in this thread. This was done to prevent grinding a few 100 point maps in order to easy become the #1 in the Über score. A complete list of all points for all maps where posted and we soon realised the entire system was skewed and flawed. Many many maps where rated much harder than they actually are. The point ranges where also not evenly distributed. A few suggestions where made:

  • When adding points let the difficulty be decided regarding to how many people who can finish the map
  • Find a way to automatically decide points
  • Change the amount of maps played to become Über to 1000 to prevent grinding 100 pointers.
  • Change the scoring algoritms so for every time you finish the same map you get less and less points.
  • Reset the entire database and start fresh, with updated difficulties and better stats algoritms

A complete overhaul of every maps difficulty and rewriting the code is a task that would take months to do. I dont think anyone of us feels like doing this or got the time needed. Resetting the database is also out of the question. The easiest solution right now is to change the amount of maps needed to become Über to 1000 maps. That means you need to finish at least 1000 maps before youre average difficulty is calculated.

This prevents grinding 100 pointers to become #1. If anyone dispite this would grind 1000 100 point maps I think they are in serious need of re-programming to a healthier way of using their computer.

This is not a final solution, but only a first easy step to solve this problem.

Sim suggested the idea of giving less and less points for each time you finish a map. I like this idea and it will be looked into.

The Über score will be changed shortly

PostHeaderIcon FF double jump competition on zE's servers

This is not a Team Fortress Classic event, nor a Euroskillz thing, but I think it still should be interesting for the ones of you who have Fortress Forever installed. This competition is all about showing that you are the best FF double jumper. And the prize handed out by zE is your own server for one month. For more info about this competition use your keyboard and maybe mouse to to go to the main info site

>> djump competition :: zE Palace <<

FF double jump competition

The competition consists in completing the map trimp_trainingz_b2 in the fastest time possible, the player with the best time WINS a 16 slot SERVER for 1 month period, either an E-frag or INX server if the winner is from Europe or Gameservers if the winner is from USA, the server will be set up 2 days max after the winner is declared and we will provide complete ftp acess to the winner of the competition. The winner of the competition is free to do whatever he wants with his server but must agree to respect the gaming servers company policy agreement. PostHeaderIcon Time to think forward!!

Hey all!

Its been a bit quiet around here since the website was launched, its not unexpected since many people make do with what we've always had, the forum.

It's time to start juggeling with suggestions or ideas for the upcomming year of euroskillz, we need to push on this matter! Do we change direction? Add another game to the serverlist? There are alot of potential in our current servers, we could do alot more than just watching these servers stand empty all day long with some activity at evening.

As for the website i'd like to integrate the forum to this webby, meaning, that when you log into the frontpage you also get logged into the forum. This would boost the traffic around the whole website.

Please, feel free to write an entry if you have any suggestions to make this place more attractive! :)
